State of our World this July Fourth

First let me say I am proud to be an American citizen.  My Cherokee Ancestors lived here and loved this land many years before my European ancestors claimed it for themselves.

I am proud of all the blood that runs through my veins.

I am also an Obama supporter.  I voted for his message of hope and helped family and friends to find out more about him, many of those voted for him too.

Today I am upset with Obama and with us, the citizens of this great nation.

It’s politics, big business, and what’s best for the elite, as usual, or so it seems to me.

I watched www.democracynow.org and was shocked at what I saw and heard by the speaker there.

Visit democracy now today and watch.  Watch often.  It’s on many cable networks as well.

Watch it for yourself and ask why we allow ourselves to be brainwashed by main stream media.

I want to know how many of my readers have ever called, emailed or phone their state representatives about an issue.

How do you make your opinions known to our elected leaders?

If we desire to continue living with the freedoms we so proudly declare to the world, we need to safe guard them by being involved, knowing what’s going on in politics and having our say about policy.

We are more than just physical bodies with minds, feelings, and desires for all the good things in life.

Let us not forget in our quest to understand the spiritual, that physical experiences are created not only by us as individuals, but as a group.

The world we have now we have all created, either by commission or omission.

It’s up to us, each of us to create our world with care of what’s good for the whole, not just the few.

While one person can not feed all the hungry, one person can share what they have with someone they know.  One person can share truth, kindness and love.  Those receiving these things then share with one other person until we have made a huge difference with our one act of love.

Be the change you wish for the world.. really Be that change.

Love yourself well.. always,

Donna

Politics and Spirituality Salad Making

We all mix religion and politics.  We can’t help it.  Our personal beliefs are the filter through which everything we hear about, see, think and experience go through.

However, just as some things were never meant to be mixed together in a salad, so should politics and religion not be in the same bowl.

Watching the political scene the last few years I’ve been struck with how much religion is being crammed down the throat of Americans whether they believe the same way or not.

We have separation of church and state for good reason here in this county.  Any time ANY religion has power over the government and thus the people.. we have terror.

It’s happened throughout history and is happening even now.  Religion becomes the bat that everyone is hit over the head with in order to get them to comply.

Mercy, people even kill abortion doctors in this nation and proclaim it a righteous killing because the doctor was killing babies.

My mother told me that two wrongs never make a right.  Extreme right doesn’t seem to get that teaching.

While I have spiritual views and accept that my beliefs are the filter that the news must get through before it makes it to my thinking brain, I am at least willing to let it make it’s way to logical thinking.

I’m all for principles and law.  I like having a set of moral and ethical standards that I live by.  What I don’t enjoy is those who think that their beliefs are superior to those of others, in this nation or any other.

Terrorism is terrorism is terrorism.  Walking, quaking and looking like a duck generally makes one a duck.

Shock should be our response when any group of religious persons use their beliefs about GOD as a tool for gaining power and control of our nation.

Here in my state a few years ago a judge felt he was above the law and could do as he pleased with the Ten Commandments.  He’s thinking about running for office again and I’m sure there are those who will feel it’s God’s call to service to help him get elected.

The problem is everyone feels that way about their beliefs in GOD.  Every religion believer feels that their personal take on GOD is THE RIGHT ONE>>> some even think their way is THE ONLY RIGHT WAY to GOD>

This leads to war, terror in the streets, fear in the land.

How can such a great nation as America still be entrenched in fear, superstition and bias?  What will it take for people to keep their religion to themselves, living it as example rather than shoving it down people’s throats?

Pray for your nation, pray for your neighbors around the world.. but pray speaking with GOD and listening for guidance rather than to impress man and get voted into office or elected into power and control.

What is the difference between the Far Right and the Taliban?  Could it be that the only difference is the nation in which the terrorists reside and the style of clothing?

Hatred is not the answer.  Hatred has never been the answer.

Take the Hate out of religion and let’s see what we have to work with?  Want to give it a try?

Discover what your beliefs are and how they just might be holding you back.  Free yourself from self imposed and society imposed limited thinking.

Good Bye President Bush Thank you for the Lessons

As I watched Mr.. Bush leave Washington yesterday I was glad to see him headed back to Texas.

Eight years ago when he took the office of president many had hopes that he would bring us years of prosperity and global peace.

Instead we all listened to his and Chaney’s fear mongering and got caught up in the
“terrorist” mentality.

We began to look for danger behind not only ever tree, but every bush.

Our nation’s fear allowed us to be silent as our constitutional rights were eroded and later as we found out torture was being used, making us the same as the terrorist, most said nothing.

The lessons of Bush and Chaney’s eight years is the power of fear to lead us into the dark, murky places where roots tangle around our ankles and it’s hard to find our way again.

It took this nation eight years to begin to realize how dangerous fear is.

I am reminded of what Job said, “what I have fear most has come to me”.

We found ourselves with something to fear in addition to terrorists.

Hundreds of thousands have lost jobs, homes and trillions in the stock market.

We had to choose between milk for our children or another tank of gas at over $4.00 a gallon.  The price of everything rose while jobs were on the down swing.

This is the lesson of fear, to a nation and to each individual.

We have now come back to our senses.  We have latched onto the energy of hope and well being.  We took ourselves a long way down the road of fear to show ourselves just how important and powerful we are in creating our experiences, our reality.

Now that hope has arrived like a warming sun on a cold day, millions around the world have joined hands with each other to combine energy and creative power to bring about much desired changes.

As we see the power of hope growing and transforming individuals across the planet, each of us can connect with this power of change, we can allow it to flow in and through us, we can Be the energy of change.

Whatever is in your life that is not as you would like it to be, this is the time to channel hope to the situation, infuse it with hope.  Watch joyfully as this energy transform your life from the inside out.

Let us uplift our new President Obama, keep him in light and wisdom.  Let us join our light, our love, our hope with his, that great changes will take place.

America is on her way to once again being a great nation, a nation of love, kindness, inner strength, moral direction and equal protection under the law for each individual.

Welcome back Lady America.  I have missed you.

If you are ready to change your life, let me help

Do You Choose Hope or Fear?

flower For too long the people of this nation have chosen fear.

Fear of terrorists, fear of attach, fear of too little, fear of loss.

Where has this fear taken us?

Recession, violation of the rights of human beings’; things to fear.

Now we have a new energy flowing across our nation and the world.

Hope.

Hope is akin to love, it is like faith.

Hope is what brings the plants from their seeds and gives them energy to grow and produce flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Hope is the energy that helps us turn from the feeling of desperation to look for the beauty within each person.

As a nation our choice of fear has led us down a path of loosing face with the rest of the world, they no longer see us as a guiding light of democracy.  Rather we have of late been seen as a nation who invades and offers violence and torture to gain power and control.

Today our nation is suffering due to our choices of the past.

Fear has been a tough teacher of the consequences of our choices becoming the very thing which we feared.

Fear has shown us just how powerful we are to create the very things we give so much of our passionate energy to.  We have created job loss, bankruptcy, businesses going down the tubes, wars, death; all manner of horrors created with the energy of fear.

Let us now learn the lessons that fear has taught us.  Let us understand that we are powerful beyond our understanding to create with great passion that which we choose to experience.

Now that a bright ray of hope brought to us by President Obama has arrived, let us join hands and hearts with those choosing hope as the new energy of not only America, but of each American.

Not only will hope help us to change our nation, to restore balance, respect and prosperity to our citizens, hope will help us to engage in a new energy of personal creation as well.

Put aside fear, take hold of hope, let it guide you like a great light piercing the darkness into a much better place.

Together we can change.  We have seen this in the last few months here in our wonderful country.  We can change, we can create a better America, we can create a better life for each American.

You can change.  Your life can change.

Embrace this powerful energy of hope and together we will make miracles.

Empowered Women and Freedom of Speech

I am baffled when people excuse hate filled messages by claiming “freedom of speech”.

It is a wonderful gift to live in a nation that protects our right to speak out openly and passionately on our opinions and beliefs.

I don’t think however, that this right was ever intended as an excuse to use language to promote hate, fear, or violence.

It seems to me that freedom of speech is better used to share wisdom, insights and personal experiences that lift up the whole of humanity and bring us closer together rather than tearing us further apart.

It concerns me when I hear people in America using their wonderful freedom of speech to promote hatred towards others for a difference of religion or preference of political party.

How did we get so confused on what freedom is? How did we come to think that speaking out in hatred and violence empowers us to higher levels of freedom.

Empowerment comes not from hateful words or violent acts, rather from a centered place within where you realize your connection to All That Is. Your experience of love and kindness makes you strong.

Fear and hatred make you weak, it makes you afraid.

Fear and hate always weaken us and push us further apart in our ideas and our being able to accept that we are all children of the same Energy, brothers and sisters sharing the same planet.

I see mothers in stores popping their children to “make them behave” and have to wonder why they think violence towards their small children is effective. It only teaches children that when you feel frustrated and don’t know what else to do, you reach out and hurt someone you love.

As women, mothers, sisters; let;s empower ourselves through words of kindness, thoughts of understanding and acts of love rather than staying in the place of a false sense of security that fear gives us.

True freedom, is more than being able to say whatever you want, it’s releasing yourself from fear and living fully who you are. Freedom and personal empowerment promotes well being, prosperity, love, success and growth of acceptance and understanding.

Be Free in every area of your life experience by choosing thoughts and actions that lead to the betterment of All.

You are free, you can be nothing else. There is nothing to fear and fear only promotes more to fear. It’s the law of attraction at work. Living free from fear and hatred is your right, this is the better feeling option. It spreads Oneness and a sense of community and togetherness which heals and inspires all who come in contact with you to live their Best Self as well.

Open your heart, then open your mind and allow everyone to be free to think and believe even when it’s not in line with your truth. By choosing to live free, you are a light to the world and an inspiration that others will follow.

Walk in peace, think in kindness, share in love.. make a difference that catches on and lifts us all higher.

Affirmations for the day

I am an instrument of peace.

Love flows through me and touches the world

Kindness is my companion.

I am free to express my brilliance

Joy is my expression

Empowerment is the result of expressing who I really Am

American Political Pretzel Crumbles

For over seven years we have been twisted in this nation like a pretzel. We’ve seen our rights eroded through the fear machine of government which lied in order to invade Iraq.

Our citizens have been illegally spied on, arrested, imprisoned and tortured on suspicion with little or no facts to back up the action.

Where is the just cause for arrest? It’s not to be found any longer due to FISA which gives government the right to tap your phones without showing any just reason; a suspicion will do now.

With the new FISA bill now before Congress we are being told once again how necessary it is to keep us safe.

The fear machine is at work again.

This new bill will not serve you or me, it covers the butt of telecom companies by giving them immunity from past conduct. This is called “reverse engineering”; change the law to conform to past conduct.

What it means is that all illegal activities performed in the past are now immune from any legal actions, plus it pays it forward to cover their butts for any illegal activities they most likely will do in the future.

In tens of thousands of cases wire taps have been given the stamp of approval on little more than a guess and a maybe. Out of these tens of thousands of applications only two, and these recent; probably due to public outcry, have been turned down.

This goes even further. It allows for more butt covering of our government’s illegal activity to include imprisonment without any legal right to counsel, not being told what you are arrested for, not being able to contact anyone to let them know where you are and for what you are being held.. right up to downright torture.

We don’t need FISA, there is already a provision for extreme measures in extreme times. This bill only furthers the eroding of our constitution and our rights as citizens.

For those who don’t think this applies to them, think about this. If our Constitution is nothing more than an inconvenience that we must side step in order to “protect ourselves”, what will protect us from our own government?

You don’t think we need this protection?

We’ve already experienced the government invading the privacy of families using Child Protective Services. I know, I know, you’re thinking this agency is good, after all they protect innocent children from abuse. They also don’t need a warrant to come into your home, strip your children naked and search their bodies for evidence of abuse. All they need to do this and to remove your children from your home without a warrant is an anonymous phone call accusing you of abuse.

Once they take your children they don’t allow you to have contact with them or know where they are for 3 days.

You have to prove you didn’t abuse your children in order to regain custody, while they have to only show a reason to believe that abuse has taken place in order to keep them.

I know you want to believe in the integrity of our government’s programs, yet all too often our trust is not earned.

While we continue to be led like sheep to the slaughter with deception and outright lies our children are dying in a War on Terror in a nation that didn’t even attack us, while the group supposedly responsible still wanders free.

Americans are being judged as Bad Americans and unpatriotic for speaking out and often times placed on watch lists where they are denied airplane flight because they “Are On The List”, their phones are tapped, their homes entered while they are absent and the contents of their computers’ hard drives downloaded for investigation later to see if perhaps they might be linked to terrorists.

Now a few brave souls are stepping forward and being condemned as “Whistle Blowers” with money as the only reason for their betrayal.

Sadly, writing a book is one of the few ways to tell the truth to Americans any longer. The newspapers and TV news casts don’t seem too see the importance of really digging into the deep holes of illegal activity by our government, they are more interested in Cindy McCain’s perjured cookie recipes.

While the problems in our nation are big and many, we do have the ability to make the needed changes.

When enough of us care more about why gas prices and food prices are high rather than trying to get the government to give us a band aid fix.. we will be motivated to action.

The reasons for these problems are important ,we need to question of our government and demand answers. No more should we allow “executive privilege” to keep guilty parties from testifying before congress.

No more fear machine and bait and switch, we should demand answers.

Are you listening to the news? Did you hear that Israel did a dry run of 100 planes just to show that they are able to “defend themselves against Iran” if need be?

How would we in America feel is another nation did a dry run just to show us they could blow us off the face of the earth?

If Israel finds themselves needing to defend against the WMD of Iran how long do you think before we go to Israel’s aid?

Now it’s Iran’s fault that our gas and food prices are so high too.

Does that sound familiar?

Does this ring a familiar bell to anyone?

What do Iraq and Iran have in common? WMD??? No proof of that in either case.

They both have oil and we are being told by the fear machine daily that we are running out of the black gold and must have more.

Let us educate ourselves and our children to what our forefathers established at the beginning of our great nation. We are are nation of Freedom provided by our constitution, defended by our own individual selves. Without our sense of duty to speak out against the overwhelming abuse of power by government, we are part of the problem, not part of solution.

Read the Constitution and Bill of Rights to your children and think deeply about what it means to you, and if it will still have value when your grandchildren reach maturity.

For those who will accuse me of being a bad American I want you to know it is because I love my country that I type these words.

I don’t have a book on the market about this topic. I care about my children and grandchildren experiencing America as the home of the brave and the Land of Free, where we are beholden to the duty of speaking out and standing up for what is right even when our numbers are few.

When we do nothing, say nothing; we are part of the problem rather than being part of the solution.

Together we can heal this nation and our world, we just have to open our ears, eyes and heart and start changing things.

In this nation the brave and free stand, and then having done all; they stand.

Is America Coming Back to Sanity???

Hip Hip Hurray!!

Finally, after almost 8 years of insanity our Supreme court is coming to grips with what this nation stands for.

It decided… again.. that all prisoners held in the States or out.. do have rights.

Wow.. it’s hard for me to even consider that anyone in this nation, especially our president would think otherwise.

What makes our nation the envy of others? Why do people from all over the world want to move here?

Our freedom, our Constitution. Without the Constitution we are no different than any other nation in world.

The truth about this current President, George W. Bush is coming to light. Motions are being made to impeach him, too late though for all the damage he has done in our country.

I love this country and have been ashamed of many things that have happened over the last several years. Whenever we use terror to fight terrorist.. how are we then any different?

When we deny people a right to legal counsel and jail them for years without any rights whatsoever and use torture against them, please tell me how these acts differ from the ones we say we are fighting.

I am glad our Supreme Court made this decision. I am saddened that once again the Republicans including our president are upset about this decision. Are we going to turn from insanity back to the core of what our nation has always stood for?

I hear a lot of conservatives talking about how the morals and ethics in this nation are being eroded by abortion, gay rights, TV, books and movies.. yet none of the talk about denying other human beings protection from torture while in American custody.

How can this be?

Perhaps when a nation decides to believe the lies told by government to invade another country for oil they will fall for anything. I hope not. I hope we are waking up to what has been going on. We were told too many lies and lost too many freedoms to let it go on.

Hip hip Hurray Supreme Court of the United States of American for understanding that when it is legal to deny the constitutional rights to even one person, they have no value for anyone, American citizen or not.

Let’s bring this nation back to sanity and shine truth and light on lies, fear and those who promote it.

These Amazing Times We Are Living In

These are exciting and magnificent times we are living in. Change and hope intertwine to reshape our nation and fulfill the dreams of so many Americans.

I remember when I was a little girl I so wanted to see a woman as president of the United States.

I also wanted to see equal rights for every person in this nation.

I grew up when little girls couldn’t wear pants to school, people of different races didn’t share the same schools and a movement for civil rights was taking place.

I wasn’t quite old enough to march in the streets so I watched it on my black and white TV and cheered people onward to equality.

Women also wanted equal jobs for equal pay. Not many women were doctors, lawyers, none were politicians when I was a little girl.

I remember the first day our “white” school was open to the first African American student. It was an amazing thing as not many months before our governor of Alabama had stood before the college and refused to let black students enter.

What courage it took for that first black student to step into our school. I was so proud of her and so proud of the other white students who although amazed were open to change. As I stepped forward to welcome her and tell her my name I felt a surge of electricity go through the crowd.. yes.. change was here and it was good.

I remember hearing Kennedy telling us all that it wasn’t what our country could do for us, it was what we could do for our country. My heart swelled with pride even as a teenager to be included in the possibilities for our nations growth and change.

About the same time the schools were open to all races we girls also got to wear pants. We couldn’t wear jeans, that came years later, our clothing had to be pant suits.. double knit if you remember that hot thick fabric.

I grew up being taught how to duck under my desk in case Cuba decided to drop a bomb on us. The fear was terrible and it saddens me to this day when this same fear tactic is used on Americans to get us to release some of the freedoms and rights we value.

My children were not as aware of different color skin as I was as a child. My oldest daughter came home from school day after day telling me about her best friend, Johnathan. She thought he was just the neatest and sweetest child in her whole class. One afternoon when she got in the car she looked at me and said, “Mama, you know what”? When I answered, “no, what”?.. She said, “did you know that Johnathan was black”? “His skin is black”.

I answered “really, what does that mean”? She looked at me for a moment and said, “I don’t know what it means, David told me that Jonathan was black.”

I knew then that we as a nation were on the right track for change, someone had to point out the difference between skin color to my child. Children don’t see difference until someone points it out.

We were ready with a new generation who were more open, accepting and loving than the one I grew up in.

Last night as I watched the results for the last night of voting for our Democratic nomination I was amazed and delighted to see both a woman and a black man ready to lead our nation, and being accepted as wonderful potential presidents for this great land.

I think Lincoln and King, as well as all the Americans who fought and marched for equality are proud. Wherever they are they are smiling, knowing that even though it took a while.. we, the American people finally understand what this country is about.

We are ready to embrace change, to be open to discussion, opportunity for peace, and finally.. equality for all our citizens.

I am proud to be American. I am proud of my nation, my great country, who though sometimes slow to do the right thing, eventually comes around in the power of understanding, acceptance and love.

Thank you everyone who came before me. Your belief in freedom has come true. I celebrate with you this awesome moment in history and will enjoy the opportunity for even more change in this great nation.
